Spain's premier air facility and one of the busiest on the planet, Madrid Barajas International Airport (MAD) is served by many domestic and international airlines. Connected to Barcelona by both air shuttles and a high-speed train service (opened in 2008), the airport comes with four large terminals.
Terminal 1 handles international journeys, with Terminal 2 being predominantly used for domestic flights, while Terminals 3 and 4 deal with the provisions of Iberia flights. Other notable airlines calling this one of their aviation hubs include those of Air Europa, Air Pullmantur, Ryanair and Vueling.
Both easyJet and Wizz Air also have a notable presence here, flying to and from cities such as Berlin, Bologna, Bristol, Budapest, Dublin, Edinburgh, Lisbon, Liverpool, London (Gatwick, Luton and Stansted), Lyon, Malta, Marrakech, Marseille, Milan, Paris, Pisa, Porto, Rome (Ciampino and Fiumicino) and Stockholm.

- Terminal 1 - serves a large number of domestic and international airlines, with check-in / departure desks 100 to 345
- Terminal 2 - serves domestic Spanish airlines, with check-in / departure desks 400 to 561
- Terminal 3 - service domestic Spanish areas, with automatic ticket machines for shuttles available
- Terminal 4 - opened in 2006 and currently one of the world's largest, with separately numbered gates
